Learn to swim safely and effectively with The Swim Clinic's customized classes for all ages.
The Swim Clinic had an organic beginning. After welcoming our 4th baby and having just purchased a home with a pool, my husband and I began to realize the overwhelming fear and responsibility that comes with having a child who cannot swim.
When considering various swim schools, we quickly determined a group setting would not be the best fit to get the fast results we wanted. We researched and spoke with several parents who had completed Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), and concluded it was not the swimming experience we wanted for our child. I felt like, I, as his mother, and an experienced swim coach, could provide him with a safer, happier, and more effective swimming experience than all other options. When friends began to approach me about lessons for their children, I kept hearing similar stories about spending months at a swim school with little to no progress, or children traumatized and now fearful after ISR classes. Using my combined experience as a swim coach and speech therapist, I focus on providing a therapeutic, fun, rewarding, and positive swimming experience.
The Swim Clinic was built on referrals, and friends became happy clients. We offer unique and individualized swim lessons for all ages and swim levels. The Swim Clinic provides affordable private swim lessons with knowledgeable coaches who use a child led approach with younger populations. Additionally, therapy strategies such as modeling, self-talk, positive reinforcers, and redirection, are implemented to encourage and shape targeted swimming behavior outcomes. Watching children who are initially fearful of swimming learn to love the water is rewarding for both coaches and parents.
We invite you and your family to be part of this story we are still writing. Drownings are preventable, and our mission is to equip swimmers and their families with the tools they need to enjoy a lifetime of safe and positive swimming experiences.

To ensure a smooth and efficient swim lesson experience, we ask that swimmers arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of their scheduled lesson. Changing rooms are available in the front waiting area for your convenience, and restrooms are located at the back of the facility. We recommend that all swimmers use the restroom before the lesson begins. For children who are not potty trained, a snug-fitting swim diaper is required underneath their bathing suit - see the section below about additional fees. Please note that disposable swim diapers must be specifically designed for swimming, as regular diapers are not permitted in the water.
Please note that lessons run consecutively without breaks, and instructors remain in the water between sessions. Parents are required to escort their swimmer to the pool area at the start of each lesson. Swimmers should have their shoes removed, goggles in hand, and be ready to enter the water promptly at the start time.
For the safety and focus of all participants, parents are not permitted on the pool deck during lessons. However, we invite parents to view a livestream of the session from the lobby. Parents should remain on-site throughout the lesson and be prepared to pick up their child at the scheduled lesson end time.
"Swim & Tell" is an integral part of our teaching process, designed to involve parents in their child's progress. During the last 2 - 3 minutes of each lesson, parents are invited to return to the pool area to observe their swimmer’s accomplishments. Coaches will provide a brief update on the day’s achievements and have swimmers demonstrate. For more in-depth discussions or specific questions regarding your child’s progress , we encourage you to email us at instructors@theswimclinic.fun. Due to time constraints and safety considerations, coaches are unable to engage in conversations outside of the swim & tell time.
Payments are processed through our secure websites at the time of registration and on the 1st of each month for recurring class enrollments. We do not accept cash or checks. All clients are required to keep a valid credit card on file. If you join a recurring class mid-month, the fee will be prorated accordingly.
You may withdraw your swimmer(s) at any time. Please complete our withdrawal form at the front desk at least 2 weeks prior to the 1st of month. Once payment is charged on the 1st of the month, those classes are reserved for the registered swimmer until the end of the month.
“We did lessons elsewhere for two summers and my daughter made little progress. Shawna had her water safe and swimming in days! She’s incredible with the kids and is the perfect combination of fun, encouraging, and motivating while still pushing past fears. It’s obvious this is a true passion of hers.”
“Shawna is the best!! We had a terrible experience with a larger swim school and paid a lot of money for nothing at the end. As soon as I switched to her we started seeing progress. She is really good with kids that are nervous and fearful of water. She makes the process fun (so important for kids!) to build trust, focuses on safety and helps them build skills to feel confident in swimming. can't wait to take my kids to the pool this summer all because of her ”
“Shawna is such a great instructor. She's so good with kids and the progressI've seen with her teaching my daughter is lightning fast compared to lessons at a standard swim school. Highly recommend!”
“My daughter had her first swim lesson with Ms Shawna last week (she’s 4). In only 30 mins she was swimming without a floatie, blowing bubbles and wearing goggles, none of which she’d done before. It was amazing! On the way home she said ‘Mommy Ms Shawna is great!’ And she’s been asking all day to go back so that speaks volumes!”
“My son was previously going to a swim school in the area and we recently took him out because we were not seeing progress. In 3 lessons with Shawna my 5-year-old has started swimming with confidence and learning techniques he hasn’t learned in almost a year of swim school! We are amazed by the progress we are seeing and would recommend her to anyone who wants to put their child in swim. My son looks forward to hislessons with Ms. Shawna every week!”
“My 3 yr old has been swimming with Shawna for several weeks now and I have seen improved confidence, desire to test new boundaries, comfort in the water and she is more consistently going under and swimming small distances on her own. Shawna has been able to quickly build trust and helps my girl to focus through play so she can make progress. We appreciate Shawna’s patience and genuine affection. Highly recommend!”
“Shawna is wonderful. Within a few weeks of lessons, my 9-year-old went from being fearful of the water to non-stop asking about going to the pool! His confidence in t"
